I originally trained as an architect at the Mackintosh School – part of the Glasgow School of Art but have always been interested in ceramics. I did some pottery at school where I learned the basics of hand building but didn’t pick it up again as a hobby until lockdown when I took some lessons to try wheel throwing. After a few lessons I was hooked and have been throwing my own pots ever since. I like simple minimal forms and colours and find a lot of that in Japan so am inspired by that design aesthetic.
My logo comes from the Japanese paper crane. I always include one with every purchase- I still can’t believe you can make something so beautiful from a tiny piece of paper . I also love Scandinavian pottery which l tends to be minimal and limited to one colour. Ceramics is such a versatile art form- there are many techniques I still haven’t tried and look forward to experimenting more in future.
My work is mainly functional and intended to be used and enjoyed in your home while you perfect the art of making your own paper cranes.
